Have a Collection You Cannot Identify?
Russian paper money can be surprisingly complicated. The years surrounding the Revolution and Civil War produced issues from many governments, armies, cities, banks and regional authorities. Notes that look similar may also differ by signatures, series, dates or other details.
Do not spend days trying to identify everything before contacting us. Photograph several representative notes, including both sides when practical, and include a photo showing the collection as a whole.

What Determines the Value of Old Russian Banknotes?
Age alone does not determine value. Collector demand can depend on the issuing authority, denomination, year, signatures, series, rarity, condition and whether the note is an unusual variety.
Some Russian and Soviet notes were printed in very large quantities and remain inexpensive today. Others belong to short-lived governments, regional issues or scarce series and can have considerably stronger collector demand.
Our offers are based on the current resale market and the material we can use in our inventory, rather than catalog value alone.
Common Material
Common late Soviet and modern circulation notes are generally not our main focus when offered individually. Larger organized collections, unusual varieties, complete groups and material from earlier periods may still be of interest.
If you do not know whether your notes are common, send photos rather than trying to determine this yourself.
Inherited Russian Paper Money?
Keep the collection together and retain any old envelopes, collector notes, dealer descriptions, auction cards or certificates that came with it. These can help identify where a note came from or how the collection was organized.
There is no need to remove notes from old holders merely to photograph them unless they can be removed safely.

Yes. We buy Soviet and USSR paper money, although common later notes may have limited individual resale value.

Do I need to have the notes graded?
No. Raw and certified notes are both welcome. Professional grading is not required before contacting us.
Should I mail the notes to you?
Please send photographs first. We will discuss shipping or examination arrangements if the material is of interest.
