Landscape art

Landscape art in pictorial art and photography is a type of painting that depicts nature or some terrain (forest, field, mountains, grove, countryside, urban area).

Exact foundation date of landscape art is unknown. Since ancient times people have been trying to depict images of the surronding nature. Practically they have been drawing landscapes.

According to modern art terminology, several types of landscape art are accentuated. The classification is based on the landscape arts' motive:
- countryside landscape
- urban landscape (including city architectural landscape - vedute)
- industial landscape
- seascapes - marine art, and many other types of landscapes

Landscape drawing can be characterized as historical, heroic, fantastical, lyric and epic.
